Finding Inspiration at DisneyWorld

There are things I've done in life to inspire thoughts about stories...

It’s been at least ten years since I went to Disneyworld with my daughter, when she was young enough to just have to meet Cinderella. But as a Dad, I geeked over seeing Darth Vader… and it was many many years earlier while leaving a charity event that James Earl Jones walked past me, so tall I thought he couldn’t just be the voice of Darth Vader. How short I felt when he walked past…

But those are among the kind of moments as an SF/F fan and writer that, when possible, I want to seek out. So, I had an opportunity to be in Orlando and spend a few days before a business conference at Disneyworld. Post-pandemic the Disneyworld offerings are apparently a slightly different experience. Apps version wristbands make for a new experience—but being able to see the world of Avatar and a taste of Star Wars that isn’t a ride, but the experience of walking the streets of another world… That’s something I as a Star Wars fan and author of speculative and fantasy fiction really geek out over. And, being inspired is something that authors can dip into that can lead to so many stories and have even recently.

So, I'll be sharing some photos in the coming weeks--but I really like the one I had taken that made me part of the story--now that's adding to the experience... Hope you liked it too!

So,looking for free stories this month? Dragon’s Curse, set in the world of my Highmage Plight and Hands of the Highmage Series, is featured in Just Like Magic and Apocalypse Knot and Little Apocalypse (prequels to Bigfoot Is Not Your Friend and Bigfoot Hunting) are featured in Science Fiction & Fantasy Giveaways for April.

Dare to Believe,

D.H.
