May Update

Balticon, my favorite annual con in the area has metamorphosed into a virtual convention over Memorial Day Weekend—I’ve even a spot in the virtual Dealer’s Room. I’m currently scheduled to be on six panels over the weekend—and what I really like with the virtual natural of the convention is you don’t have to literally be there to participate online.

I’ve also been learning a lot about Zoom. They’ve launched sample panel workshops to make sure moderators and panelists understand how to interact… and learn some simple skills. Believe me, I appreciate the effort Balticon’s putting in.

I’ll let you know more about what panels I’m going to be on and hopefully will be able to feature links to the recordings after the event.

On a different note, I’m looking for some reviews for my recently released novella, Nowhere to Go But Mars. With reviews I’ll be better able to promote this tale in the near future. So if you’ve read it, please consider leaving a review on Amazon or Goodreads. The story’s available on multiple formats (Nook, Kobo, Apple, etc.).

Here’s details:

Homeless teenager, Gary Grime, seeks a new life in a land of opportunity, joining hundreds of thousands of Americans his age in emigrating to Mars. That means a Steerage Class passage in hibernation, a process that has its own price, one with no certainty of surviving.

Worse, the odds of surviving once reaching Mars grows worse, not better, if he makes it to the colony on the inhospitable planet – a world that could take decades, if not centuries to make habitable.

And Mars will do everything it can to kill him and all those he will come to love and depend on… if his just as desperate fellow colonists by accident or design don’t first.

Lastly, in writing progress, I’ve been working on a polishing draft of Lessers Not Losers, an unusual Superhero origin novel based on some of my previously published short stories, which appear in my collection, Crossroads of Sin and Other Stories. This is one of two novels I’m seeking some advance readers for. So, please let me know if you’re interest.

Dare to Believe,

D.H.
