Watching the Book of Boba Fett?

So, I don’t know about you, but I’ve been watching the Book of Boba Fett on Disney Plus. In some ways, okay, in a lot of ways, it’s the Star Wars fan in me geeking out. In other ways, it’s curiosity about the story. I came to Disney Plus a bit late for the party because I’d been hearing great things about the Mandalorian—all of which were true, by the way.

The “literary” conceit of each season being a “book” — to me as an author — is rather difficult to ignore, too. For me, it stresses this is a story, not a typical television series.

The episode of Boba Fett also, as George Lucas was trying to recreate in his Star Wars and Indiana Jones films felt like the action-packed serials like the old Flash Gordon episodes I saw in re-runs as a kid. (No, I’m not so old as to have seen them as a kid.)

What I’m looking for in the Book of Boba Fett is exactly who is Boba. Is he just the bounty hunter we see briefly with his so few lines in the films? So, far — no spoiler alert — he definitely has a bit more to say, but he still seems to be a man of few words. Then again, this is a serial, an action adventure sci-fi story. So, baited breath, I’m looking forward to the next episode… thank you inheritors of the George’s legacy, your love of Star Wars is clear, which is another reason I’ll be watching the entire story. That’s part of the lesson in good story telling I’m watching…

Next month I’m planning to be at a business of writing seminar, Superstars Writing Seminar, which was founded by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta, Dave Farland, Eric Flint, and Brandon Sanderson.

In giveaway news this month Apocalypse Knot, prequel to Bigfoot is Not Your Friend, and Dragon’s Curse, a prequel to Highmage’s Plight, and Last Knight, prequel to Knight of the Broken Table, appear in New Year, New Worlds SF/F Giveaway. Think of it as a trifecta.

Highmage’s Plight, Book 1 of the 7 book series, and Knight of the Broken Table, are also available in the Fantastic Collection, a promo for books in Kindle Unlimited.

Dare to Believe and Happy New Year!
