New Cover coming soon for forthcoming book, Knight's Blood
Commissioning coverart is one of my favorite things about finishing writing a book and completing the editing. Part of my coverart process is I write three ideas for the scene to be depicted on the cover. I’ve now done that for Knight’s Blood, book 3 of Knights Tower, and reached out to my current favorite graphic artist. My cover artist then does a pencil sketch of the scene he likes the most. Once we’re agreed on the scene and approach, he draws it full color.
For my book covers I seek an artist, not stock coverart. I’ve a feeling I’m a bit of a pain to work with, asking for changes, some really easy, others not so much. I also am always seeking to learn how to make my covers better. My plan this round is to update the first two covers of the Knights Tower Series to better brand the series as we do the latest cover.
I don’t always use the same graphic artist, but when working on a series, I do my best to stay with one artist. I’ve worked with seven graphic artists over the ten years for my more than twenty books in print. Oh, and I’m really looking forward to the cover reveal…
