Into My Worlds and Words
I’ve written a lot in the world of the Highmage and elves, elfbloods, humans, trolls, and ogres and have a lot more stories yet to write in that world. But, in the past year I felt the pull to focus on something different. Without a doubt this has been because our lives are a bit upside down—or, perhaps, inside out. This led me first to publish my first novella, Nowhere to Go But Mars, a reverse Ellis Island immigrant experience, taking Americas huddled masses to a new world, then Lessers Not Losers, Knight of the Broken Table (to be released on October 1st) and another project that I’ve rewritten and rewritten, which I hope will be my next project to publish.
Among my first stories to be published appeared in an ezine over the period of a couple of years, including the genus of Lessers Not Losers. I published that a couple of months ago, set in the tomorrow of our world where psychic powers are real and open to abuse, though hidden from public view. But that may be about to change. Lessers Not Losers is the first novel I’ve written about the psychic kids, who’ve been raised secretly in asylum where they’re tested for how valuable their gifts to whomever is behind these institutions. I’d always meant to share the stories of this kids and now was the time to publish the origin story of Superheroes on the run… It was a lot of fun to write and I think you may too.
Knight of the Broken Table is based on one of my short stories published in an anthology a few years ago. Unlike the stories in my Highmage’s Plight Series, which are fantasy with a science fiction twist, Knight of the Broken Table is science fiction in a steampunk out-of-this-world way. I’m working on its sequel now—though, don’t fault me if I end up working on Lessers’ sequel. They’re both pulling on me.
But it’s what I think of as my BIG project that has been haunting me for the last few years, which as I’ve mentioned I have be rewriting, which I hope to release in the next few months. I’m looking to get a number of new advance readers involved to get their thoughts on my Bigfoot novel, oops, I said it… which is one reason I’ve begun experimenting with Story Origin, which seems to offer great online review copy features and a lot more.
As I’m seeking to promote my work, so I’ve two rather long short stories (one is a novella) that I’m offering as giveaways (for signing up for my newsletter). The Dragon’s Curse is a prequel to my Highmage’s Plight and Hands of the Highmage Series, and Grounding a Mockingbird, a sort of prequel to Lessers Not Losers. They are being featured in the October Sci Fi & Fantasy Giveaway will scores of other stories. So, check it out and The Dragon’s Curse is also available in another giveaway, beginning on October 2, Fantasy Quick Read, which is definitely worth checking out, too.
Highmage’s Plight and Nowhere to Go But Mars are featured in the Sci Fi/Space Opera and Fantasy KIndle Unlimited Bundle. Knight of the Broken Table will also be free on Kindle Unlimited, too.
