D.H. Aire's February 2021 Newsletter

I recently signed up for two national sci-fi and fantasy conferences. The Nebula Conference of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) is the national annual conference of the organization, which is not just open to members of SFWA, but those interested in attending. It is being held virtually in early June. This will be where the Nebula Awards for best short sci fi story, novella, novel and more will be presented. Later in the summer, in August, is Worldcon at Discon III, which is currently hoped to be in person, pandemic permitting. As it is being held in DC, which is close to where I live, I’m really hoping for in person at that point. I should be on panels at both conferences, so virtual or not, I’m looking forward to them. You may want to check them out—there are going to be great panels and readings with many well-known top authors, and authors earlier in their careers like me (who can always dream of one day being considered such).

In the meantime, I’m working on the edits to my forthcoming novel, Bigfoot is Not Your Friend, which any week now I’m planning to offer for beta readings. I’m working through the edits methodically, hoping to make this book the best it can be. That it’s satiric and an action adventure make it all the more fun to go through… I’m really looking forward to get feedback from advance readers — and hope to release the book before the end of the end summer (or sooner).

Now to share where you can find free stories — including a number of mine. Grounding a Mockingbird, a prequel story to Lessers Not Losers, are available in a group promo the Starlight February Group Giveaway. The Dragon’s Curse (novella), which is a lead-in to my Highmage’s Plight and Hands of the Highmage series, is featured in #AlienSeasons Sci-Fi & Fantasy Giveaway.

My novella, Last Knight, prequel to Knight of the Broken Table is available for free in the Sci-Fi & Fantasy Giveaway promo.
