About the Superstars Writing Seminar and other News

Back in the Fall of 2010...

I attended Archcon in St. Louis, Missouri, my first sci fi convention. The Guest of Honor was bestselling author Kevin J. Anderson, who offered a one day seminar on the business of being a science fiction and fantasy author.

He based that one day session as part of what the Superstars Writing Seminars is all about. I grew up in St. Louis and had never attended Archcon, but I’d secretly written a number of books—and been rewriting them for years. I’d even sent novels off to publishers many years before only to garner my first rejection letters.

I spoke with Kevin, telling him I wanted to get published—and that one day talk of “everything” I needed to know whet my appetite to learn more.

That’s when he told me I should attend the next Superstars Writing Seminar, which a few months later was being held in Salt Lake City.

There was a lot going on in my life right then, but I committed to going to the conference, which was the second one. Within months of attending, I had my first book contract. Since then, I’ve published twenty-two novels, and lots of novellas and short stories. I keep going back to Superstars, not every year, but periodically. The tribe of authors, who attend is so supportive that I feel freer asking how I can market better, sell more books, and learn more about crowd funding and every other aspect of the business than anywhere else. The participants are also part of my social media network, helping keep my writing pace going--and encouraging me when times are hard.

I share this because from time to time, I’ve found there are other budding authors out there. If you are one of them, I’m happy to provide a referral code for registration. There are also a number of needs based scholarships to help make it possible for those who can’t afford such a conference.

If you’d like my referral code, please contact me. I plan to attend the upcoming one in February 2025 in Colorado Springs. If you happen to be at Balticon over Memorial Day Weekend, I’m happy to talk further about the benefits of the conference or just shmooze all things science fiction and fantasy. I’m on panels and will have a table in the Dealer’s Room. L.E. Modesittt, Jr., author of 75 novels, is the Guest of Honor this year, along with Guest of Honor Editor of Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine, Sheila Williams.

In other news, Knight’s Blood is available on Kindle and elsewhere as are the revised editions of Knight of the Broken Table and Changeling Knight are available on Kindle and in other epub formats, You can find those other formats here: Knight of the Broken Table and Changeling Knight. Knight of the Broken Table is free on Smashworld, Nook, iStore. I’ve been watching for Kindle to price match, but apparently the Amazon bots are really slow this spring.

Oh, I’m also getting read to send out the paperback copies Knight's Blood, which I launched through my first Kickstarter to all the backers I promised copies.

So, interested in free stories this month? My novella, Last Knight, a prequel to my Knights Tower Series is available in this promo, Jumping into Fantasyland.

Dare to Believe!
